Presenter : Samantha Manewitz, LICSW, CST
What do you do when your partner's whispered nothings send shocks of pain up your spine? How do you stay in the moment when a tender caress makes your skin crawl or barely registers? For people with sensory processing disorder (SPD), autism spectrum disorders, and ADHD, these struggles are all too real. Presently the bulk of research and interventions for sensory processing issues are focused on children. Therefore, many issues specific to adults with sensory issues can go unaddressed, especially when it comes to sex and intimacy. Finding knowledgeable providers is also a major challenge. This webinar is designed to start what will hopefully be a much larger conversation around these issues. We will look at how sensory issues impact sex and intimacy, and how sexuality professionals can apply PLISSIT and Ex-PLISSIT frameworks to center their client’s needs.
